How to care for your Reo
Use these instructions to care for a Reo oyster. This guide will tell you how to water a Reo oyster; its light, temperature, and humidity preferences, and any additional care it may need to help it thrive.

It definitely needs good, bright light, preferably indirect. Direct light can burn and damage its leaves, but during the dimmer hours, it can handle direct sunlight for a few hours a day.

It's beneficial to let it dry completely between waterings; it doesn't like standing water. Water should be plentiful, until it runs out of the drainage holes.
It likes humidity and will appreciate occasional misting. This also helps keep the leaves clean and pest-free.
It will feel comfortable in warm climates, between 15°C - 30°C.
During spring and summer, you can fertilize the plant once a month. During this time, you can also repot it if necessary.
It is a toxic plant for humans and animals. Ingestion and handling can cause irritation, so always wear gloves when pruning or transplanting.
The most worrying aspect of our Reo plant is that it will gradually lose its color and begin to turn green. It's essential that it always be exposed to bright, indirect light, and at least one or two hours a day, and a few days a week, place it in direct sunlight in the morning or late afternoon.

Common problems for the Reo
It can be alarming to notice your Reo's bold coloring starting to fade to green, but don't worry! It's a simple fix.
Inadequate light
The most likely reason your Reo is fading is due to a lack of light. Your plant prefers bright, indirect light to bright light. If it's placed in an area where it can receive a couple of hours of direct sunlight, the colors will become more vibrant. If it's placed in a lower-light environment, its coloring will fade.
If you suspect your plant is fading due to lack of light, take a look at your space and find a sunnier spot. A sunny windowsill or shelf is perfect for your Reo to show off its beautiful colorful leaves.
Your Reo doesn't need much water to survive. Water only when the soil is 75% dry. Water until water flows freely from the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot. Be sure to discard any excess water that runs into the saucer, as this can lead to root rot and the eventual death of your plant.
It's easy to over-water your plant when you care about it and want it to thrive. Sometimes we suggest tricking your plant when you feel the urge to over-water. Your plant will love the extra moisture.
