MATCHA TEA

step by step

Welcome to our guide on preparing matcha tea! If you've recently purchased our matcha, you're about to discover how to make this traditional and beneficial Japanese beverage.

What is Matcha Tea?

Matcha is a finely ground Japanese green tea known for its vibrant green color and multiple health benefits. Unlike other teas, when you consume matcha you ingest the whole leaf, maximizing your intake of antioxidants and nutrients.

Traditional Preparation of Matcha Tea:

To prepare matcha tea in the traditional way, don't forget to have the utensils we show you in the video:

  • Chawan : Special bowl for tea.
  • Chasen : Bamboo whisk.
  • Chashaku : Bamboo spoon for measuring tea.
  • Fine sieve : To sift the matcha powder.

Steps to follow:

  1. Sift the matcha : Use the sieve to sift 1-2 teaspoons of matcha into the chawan. This prevents lumps and ensures a smooth texture.
  2. Add hot water : Pour approximately 70 ml of hot water at 80°C over the sifted matcha. Avoid boiling water to avoid altering the flavor.
  3. Whisking the tea : Using the chasen, whisk vigorously in an "M" or "W" shape until a layer of foam forms on the surface. This process ensures a homogeneous mixture and enhances the flavor.
  4. Enjoy : Once frothed, your matcha tea is ready to enjoy. You can pair it with a traditional Japanese dessert to balance its slightly bitter taste.
